SPARKER ... The Blog

All the news that's fit to forget about.

Two things the weekend held for me of popular cultural import: (1) The new Star Wars and (2) the final X-Files. Regarding both, I was pleasantly surprised, considering The Phantom Mencace was a load of dung -- as was much of the past few season of The X-Files.

I expected the worst out of AOTC, so it could only have exceeded my expectations. I think most critcs are giving it a bad wrap. Sure, the dialogue was for shit and the plot had holes big enough to fly a fleet of Imperial Star Destroyers through, but in general it conveyed the excitment that Episode I sorely lacked.

The finale of the X-Files could have been better, but they're probably saving their juice for the movies -- which is fine by me. For all intents and purposes, the X-Files has been over for a long time.
