All the news that's fit to forget about.

There's nothing more regrettable than an "I told you so" in regard to war, but this is exactly what we're faced with after Bush and Co.'s dismally contrived build-up to the still-ongoing war in Iraq and its failure to conceive of a definitive plan for life after the "end of major combat operations." Democrats wanted nothing more than to underscore to the American public the ridiculousness of Bush's Top-Gun landing on the USS Lincoln; now, the ridiculousness is all too apparent and all too sad, considering the continued loss of life, which the administration would clearly prefer us to ignore. (So much for post-9/11 patriotism.) Alternet's posted a fine article about the willful ignorance of the administration and Central Command over the past year. Even the Republicans are running scared from under the once-protective blanket of association with the president. Unfortunately, it's a bit too late.
