All the news that's fit to forget about.

Is anyone surprised Colin Powell will not serve a second term? For all his imperfections, he's clearly a man of some integrity, and for a person of his stature to have to deal with the absolute insanity and idiocy of the Bush administration's concept of foreign policy must be frustrating to the extreme. The downside, of course, is that the State Department will no longer be the voice of (relative) reason in the administration -- especially if Paul Wolfowitz ends up as secretary of state, which is one rumor I've heard (I've also heard Condy Rice might take the position, but I doubt that). Then again, the prospect of Bush not gaining a second term seems to becoming a more and more viable reality, so perhaps we have nothing to fear. President Dean, if you please....has a nice ring, eh?
