SPARKER ... The Blog

All the news that's fit to forget about.

Check out my latest review on PopMatters, on the Michael Alig story Party Monster. There're a few typos (not my fault!), but the largest one comes at the last sentence -- so, when you read it, it should read: "That is, without having to serve 10 to life in prison."

It makes no sense they way they have it. I still don't understand how a perfectly clean piece of copy I send to PopMatters always ends up posted with numerous errors. They should just leave it alone -- I mean, is it worth all those typos just to change around some senetence structuring? And if someone does change it, they should be damned on the ball about making sure the words make sense afterward.

This might very well be my last contribution to PopMatters -- I have too much pride in my grammar to allow my name to be attached to pieces that, quite frankly, wind up reading like shit after the editors hack their way through it. Sad, but true. I'm just glad I'm at that stage in my writing carreer where I can pull out of affiliations if they don't suit me. It's quite a nice feeling.
