SPARKER ... The Blog

All the news that's fit to forget about.

I'm having a love affair with Spinsanity.org -- one of the few websites on which you can actually find out the truth behind the misinformation constantly being pipelined through the inept mainstream media. This week, Brendan Nyhan underscores how often the talking heads and pundits repeat the fiction of California's "$38 billion" deficit (it's closer to $8 billion -- still not so hot, but quite a ways away from the former figure), and he takes a look at some of Bill O'Reilly's latest factual blunders (I can't believe some people still take O'Reilly seriously). And speaking of some of our favorite right-wing dissemblers, Bryan Keefer looks at how Ann Coulter continues to make an ass of herself, even in the midst of trying to "correct" some of her previous lies.

Some of this stuff could actually be good for a laugh -- until you realize how much sway these idiots have on their adoring masses and, in turn, the implementation of formal policy. Well, they say comedy and tragedy are more closely linked than one might imagine...
