SPARKER ... The Blog

All the news that's fit to forget about.

Yours truly has just received an acceptance letter from The Harrow for my short story "Heater." Surprisingly, this is only the third publication I sent it to -- the first, Weird Tales, and the second, Space and Time, both rejected it, but sent very encouraging editorial comments (itself fairly heartening, considering the heaps of form letters I've gotten for other stories) -- and it's actually only the third real story I've ever written (i.e., finished it and edited it again and again), almost five years ago. As you can imagine, I am very excited.

I mean, after my recent move, my financial woes, my horrible car accident, and having to go to court (for charges I shan't relay), something good was bound to happen. Count me as a firm believer in karma, my faithful readers.

I'll post the URL to the story once it's published. Until then, I'll be celebrating.

P.S.: I almost forgot to thank those whose insights and suggestions helped make "Heater" a readable work (compared with its original incarnation, which I've duly destroyed) -- particularly Robin and Marisa. You guys are the best.
