All the news that's fit to forget about.

The Republican National Convention is in full swing, and if you're a political junkie like me, you're probably watching it right now. If also you're a rip-roaring liberal independant, like me, then you've probably gone to sleep every night this week with a mix of bemusement and some slight fear -- the GOP is pulling off quite a show. Aside from a few speeches, particulalry Bill Clinton's, the Dems didn't have as many highlights during their convention last month. Kerry's speech was particulalry forgetable (no JFK he!).
And if, like me, you're planning on voting strategically in November (i.e., for the Democratic ticket), then Zell Miller's decision to endorse Bush must seem exceptionally baffling. How could even a "moderate" Democrat toy with the idea of supporting the most unabashedly radical president since ... well, since the nation was founded. Good ol' Alternet has just posted a very informative piece on Georgia Senator Miller here. Perfect reading material to prepare for Miller's keynote speech in a few hours.
Here are some other recent articles you might find interesting:
David Brooks, from the shitty Weekly Standard, admits that the GOP has lost its true conservative roots and is planning to coopt liberalism by coining the oxymoronic term "progressive conservativism" here.
Bush, who has clearly implemented a uber-Christian agenda, might very well be the antichrist (well, that would be my theory if I were a bit more insane). Check out some of his more disturbing action here.
And John McCain -- who has proven that he is no friend to the Democrats (nor even that "moderate," as everyone likes to think) -- put his foot in it when he attacked Michael Moore in his speech Monday night. Check out how this might wind up costing Bush the election here
Well that should keep everyone busy for a while. I'll be sure to come back and deconstruct some of Bush's comments tomorrow night. I can't wait.
