SPARKER ... The Blog

All the news that's fit to forget about.

I can't believe the Bears just won! I was hanging out at a friend's house, and between helping her clean and whatnot I kept one eye on the game. Eventually, as the fourth quarter rolled on, I did what I never do and assumed the game was pretty much over. Always, always, always, whenever I make that assumption, I am indeed proven an ass, and, of course, that's exactly what happened tonight: with only five minutes left in the game, Chicago manages the impossible by first recovering a fumble and returning 40 yards for a touchdown; then, with less than three minutes to go, the Bears return a 50-yard punt for an 83-yard touchdown, winning the game 24-23!

Even though I originally assumed the Bears would win this one, nothing sucks more than thinking your team's going to advance in their division (as I assumed the Vikings would be tonight), only to find you've made the classic sports-fan mistake and missing out on an apparently impossible comeback. I hate the Bears! Especially after tonight!

And since game five of the NL championship was rained out, I have another nerve-racking night of sports to look forward to tomorrow. God, I should just start watching ballet.
