All the news that's fit to forget about.

I said it once, I'll say it again -- whatever team I'm rooting for is bound to lose. One would think I was a lowly Red Sox fan! It's almost worse being a Yankees fan these days; at least Sox fans can rest assured that their team is perpetually bound for failure (barring that one fluke of a season) -- the Yanks, and their truly loyal supporters, however, are used to winning, so when they don't, it feels as though God has fallen asleep behind the wheel.
Anyway, back on topic: the Tigers seemed like they were going to have no problems in a World Series against the Cards -- they beat the Yankees and the A's handily, hadn't they? They seemed on point on each of the holy trinity of baseball -- pitching, defense, and hitting -- prior to the Series. Now, all of a sudden, they seem like a different team. Perhaps it's rust steming from six days' rest between sweeping Oakland and playing St Louis. Perhaps the Cards are just better. Either way, why couldn't the Yankees have faced this version of the Tigers?
